Weight Loss, Exploding Gallbladder, Social Security, Medicare, The Mother In Law, Bioness, Bladder, Wake Apnea, And A Dog

okay, so what's been going on?  I lost almost 90 pounds, have kept it off, as a result of the weight loss my gallbladder exploded New Year's Eve, so I had surgery for that. My health care provider has stopped paying my claims as primary because I'm supposed to be on Medicare. Medicare starts July 1, but I have to pay a $140 a month penalty because I didn't sign up when I was eligible, nice. Just got a letter from Social Security saying that as a result of a random computer audit it was discovered that I was being paid too much so my monthly amount has been adjusted by almost $900. The mother-in-law went into the hospital to have some tests run and they made an error in her medication that put her in a coma that lasted for the better part of month. She is in a rehab facility fighting to get to a point to be able to take care of herself again. So other than that Mrs. Lincoln how did you enjoy the play?

My Bioness leg stimulator has been replaced through the extended warranty that was bought for $500. The straps that hold tight to my leg are the last thing I'm waiting for, seems they are on backorder. Curious what else the straps are used for that they don't have them in stock at all times, and are they going to replace the contact pads that are being ruined because they are out of stock? The body is pretty much shot, not too many things working the way they should, if working at all. A lot of the places that have been numb for years suddenly are extremely painful. Bladder issues seem to be the order of the day, when the urge hits you'd better get out of my way! I've developed this little thing that the neurologist calls wake apnea, a rather bothersome new edition to my old repertoire. Other than that it has been business as usual, the wife still hasn't tossed me out of the house, the kids still hate me, but we did get a dog, Rosie is a great addition to the family.

Multiple Sclerosis, Vitamin D Still Dropping, and The Stimulator Held Steady

The neuro called tonight, yes, he called about 9 PM on a Friday night, to give me my vitamin D results. He was rather surprised that for the 2nd straight month my level has gone down while on 50,000 iu a week. Is that something I should be encouraged by, or scared to death about? I'm hoping they increase the dose and I'm cured! OK, how about I feel a little better?

Tomorrow morning I'm going to pick up a couple of compost bins the County is selling for $35 a piece, first come, first serve, no limit to how many you can get. I'm going to be there bright and early, they better not sell out to the guy in front of me in line! The idiot garden is up and running, soon to have compost bins too.

The girl stayed at school, some big party. Ah to be young again, and feel young too. We just ask her to be smart, put herself in good positions, and call from time to time. She is a good kid, when she is rich someday my plan is to suck her dry!

The stim did great today, did a lot of walking at the daughters college. Handled it all well, didn't need to stop for a break, just not at break neck speed yet. It was nice to not have a cane, people didn't automatically give me that aww, to bad look. Makes me feel better about it too.

Multiple Sclerosis, Medicare, and BGE Home Conspiracy

Day 5, no hot water, I'm starting to hear voices. Oh yeah, that was the BGE guy calling at 7:30 this morning to tell me he would be here by 4. The guy told me to make sure I had the HWH part. What part, are you threatening me? Oh the HWH part from China! Yeah that came yesterday, seems UPS is in on this global conspiracy, and China is not closed on Thursdays. This is usually when the guy comes, looks at, and tells me he thought it was an XJ72r HWH, not the XJ72s, this part won't fit, but they can have one here by Easter! If I had a tub I'd say I'd better be soaking in it by dinner or else!

Social security disability and medicare part A. I have been happily strolling along the garden path telling everyone, including my primary insurance company, that no, I have no supplementary insurance. I retired in '96, jumped through the hoops, kissed some ass, and said please and thank you. I received my SS in '97 with the help of then Senator Ehrlich. The SS person who took my original paper work told me the process would be 3 denials, 3 appeals, and I would get it. OK, she was right and I was happy to getting paid again, but what I didn't know was on the day I got approved, the clock started running. 25 months later Medicare part A would start automatically.

For 10 years now I have been on medicare and did not know it! What a maroon! Everyone has the right to be dumb, but I abuse the privilege sometimes. Didn't I notice the money coming out of my check? What did I think when I received my new medicare card each year? Why wasn't I more attentive? Shandra at SS told me it looked like I had never been sent a red and white card for some reason? Part A is free, nothing comes out of my check. The anesthesiologist that knocked me out in September when they took the chemo port out is probably pissed she hasn't been paid. I bet the insurance company is too, since they aren't my primary any more, haven't been for 10 years! I am just thrilled none of this effects the families health insurance, which is still in my name.
