Family, Friends, and Being Thankful

We got all the food prepared today, minus the turkey and potatoes. Tomorrow will be a piece of cake! I cooked 2 turkey breasts to slice up for sammiches. I cooked them in a crock pot, just season them, put em in, and wait for the timer to pop! Sammiches are the best part of holiday eating. I can remember watching at my grandmother's house as the picked over carcass was picked over one last time, it always seemed to yield enough meat for one more sammich.

I remember my uncle used to go early in the morning to put the turkey in the oven at my grandmother's house. We were talking tonight about the time he dropped it on the floor, and he an my mother laughed like little kids as they picked it up, washed it off, and put in the oven! Without anyone knowing, that was the year that everyone remembers as the one that had the best tasting turkey! I think I'll go in and throw the turkey on the floor to test that theory.

Slammer commented on all the things he is thankful for, I couldn't agree with him more, and there is a lot to be thankful for. My parents and the wife's parents are going to be here, and are all 4 going strong. The wife's sister and family is coming, as is my brother. My kids are doing great, so is the wife. If my sister was here with her brood, things would be perfect! Like I have said before, I do like to piss and moan, and I think I have turned it into an art form. I also like to tell people I'm pretty smart, for my height, and one thing I know is that except for this incurable decease thing, I'm living a pretty good life. I've got a family I can't do without, and the greatest friends in the world. What's not to be thankful over?
