Hershey Park Happy

We planned a great trip to Hershey Park today. We decided to go a few days ago, just something to do that wasn't too expensive, too far, or too much to do in one day. The wife loves parks, but not as much she used to. I was never crazy theme parks, a combination of being scared of the rides, and having seen the people who worked on them at the State Fair! Both kids love the parks, the boy will ride anything that's fast, high, and does loops. The girl has gotten much better then when she used to cry on those little motorcycles that went like a merry-go-round with the little beepy horn.

We got the bright idea to call my one aunt who lives almost on the grounds of the park to see if she and my uncle were available for a visit while the kids were at the park. As luck would have it she was available and said she would love to have us not only come for the day, but come yesterday and spend the night. Swish! My uncle suggested that if we got there early enough, we could go to local grocery store and get $11 off tickets, go to the park for the last 2 1/2 hours for a free preview, and then go to the park today for a full day of fun. Double swish!

The only foreseeable problem was they were going to be down here in Hunt Valley playing in a bridge tournament all day yesterday, not to return until after midnight! Not to worry, they told us where the spare key was and to make ourselves at home. Damn nice if I do say so myself! What's that noise, my cell phone you say? It's one of my PA cousins who lives in the woods almost under the Super Dooper Looper! She says we should come to her house, have a little nosh, go get the tickets, she will take the kids, including one of hers that works at the park, oh yeah, an insider, and then relax at her house until whenever. Oh yeah!

All went as planned, we got to my aunts 10 minutes before they got home. Slept great, she fixed a huge breakfast, got the kids to the park, went on the tour, first time for me, and told the kids not to take any wooden nickels. We then proceeded to take a killer tour with our own personal guide. We saw things people that live in Hershey don't know about. We ended up back at her house for the rest of the afternoon relaxing. Just what we needed for a quick recharge of the old batteries. My uncle had to work today, but it was great seeing him, though only for a short time. It was great seeing my cousin and her girls, the little monkey for the first time. Most of all it was great spending the day with my aunt. Reminded me of all those great times in that little house in Essex! Good times.

Sounds like a great family time.

Did you get the whole Hershey story? It is pretty interesting.

Holy Schnikees Slammer, of course she gave me the whole story! She is the aunt that used to tell me how goofy looking I was when I was a kid. If she told me that, she gave me the whole skinny on Hershey! It's a great story, and quite an impressive complex.

You could have stayed home and watched the Hershey story on MPT, no travel time and no gas. Anyway glad the aunt was so nice but you were a goofy looking kid. You pictures on here are proof.

Sorry - but no one was cuter than you (except for your kids) when you were little. Not too shabby of an adult either - wacka wacka!! Your aunt is great, your uncle is great, your first, second and third cousins are great - your whole family is great!! I just wish it could be like the old times. I wish that in many different ways! MANY!!!!

Just when I'm getting ready to search the adoption records for 1962, somebody has to go and say something nice about me and my family. I was sporty in those glasses though, you have to admit.

I didn't say YOU were goofy looking. It was the glasses sitting on the end of your nose in all the pictures. It must have worked to help the eyes because you didn't have to wear them later on.

I still curl up in the fetal position when hear glasses. I wear them now, but left them home on our visit so as to avoid the jokes! It aint easy bein me!
