Let's All Cheat The Government

Talking with someone tonight about the high cost of college tuition. The girl transferred from a private college to a public one in the city, good for all of this. We talked about fafsa and how the family benefit hurt us so much, thought it was high. The guy I was talking with said he is depending on financial aid, should be good since he has always been self employed, never really showed any income. Never any income? That would be called theft! Why do people tell things, did he think I was going to say, way to go, good job cheating the government, but don't worry, I paid my share, so we're cool. But I'd of been the bad guy to have said that, funny.

Maryland Slots And Horse Racing

Are the race tracks in Maryland in charge of what happens with the slot machines in Maryland? Every time I hear anything about slots, they always tie in what the race track owners would like to see. Who cares what they want to see, not me. Are we supposed to allow slots, but only if they go in the race tracks? If they go other places are the tracks still going to get a cut? Why are we even considering cutting the tracks in on the slots, if we get them?

Slot machines bring in lots of money evidently, the places that have them are always packed. I know my parents are comped meals, usually 4 a month, for all my inheritance they spend at Midway Slots in Delaware! I don't think that's a race track, it's a fair grounds maybe? What ever it is I can tell you this much, it aint Pimlico! It's clean, bright, and in a nice neighborhood, none of which is the case for Pimlico. Where are MD's other tracks? Are they the garden spot Pimlico is? I can't see people flocking there to play slots, or eat their comped meals at the seafood buffet.

Is the hold up with slots all over how to share the money with racing? Why racing, why not Burger Kings? I mean, you gamble when you go to either of them, why not give them both slots. Are the tracks privately owned? If they are I say earn your own money, slots are paying for things we all want, not your family business. Have you ever gone to a bar? I've been in a couple, I admit it, even if my mother may read this. Of course I think it's just her and Slammer that read it anyway! But my time hanging around bars I noticed people dumping tons of money into video slot and video poker machines. They were always being used, and they were entertainment purposes only! Just think if they paid off in cash!

Ever been to Vegas? Me and my family went for a funeral I think, they have slots everywhere, including the bathrooms at the airport! Stores that sell lotto tickets get a percentage the tickets they sell right? Why can't we do the same thing with slot machines? Put them in bars, like the ones they have now, and let them pay off, like they do now, but make it legal to do. Bar owner gets something, winner gets something, and we the people of Maryland get not only slots to play locally, but a nice revenue from other visitors. Anybody can get one, bars, grocery stores, churches, give em all slots. Let's not give the lobbyist free run with this. Make sure we put someone in charge the can tell the racing families no. I'm not working, I'd be will to tell them to go shit in their respective hats. Let's do this thing and make a fortune to be used on the people that really need a hand. Tell me where you think the money should go?

Maryland Prisoners Get Satellite TV

Who do I have to kill to get satellite TV? That may be a sticky question now that some of Maryland's state prisons are adding it for the prisoner's entertainment. Is it for entertainment, or are they doing like many parents with small children do, as a babysitter? A spokesman for the Department of Corrections says it so the prisoners stay in their cells and the guards don't have to watch them. What about commercials and when there isn't crap on?

Am I paying for these people to watch satellite TV? Corrections say no, it is paid for by the prisoner's commissary and telephones. The prison commissary must have a profit margin like Exxon Mobile! I'm going to open a little shop selling Little Debbie's and tooth brushes just to watch the coin roll in! I thought the phones were all collect calls only? Did that change? Are they offering cellies at the prison boutique now?

Let's make prison a punishment again. First time in is what it's like now. Second time in is in a tent city in Western Maryland. No electricity, no running water. Third time is escaped from Hagerstown! Wall in the old prisons, turn off the power, and pull out all the guards. Escape attempts are stopped by machine guns and those winged monkeys from "The Wizard of Oz!" Let mob rule, it apparently is if they are placating them with satellite so they will behave.

Right now prison is better living for these people then home. Let's make it worse, much worse. Prison is supposed to be a deterrent, right? Let's make it less appealing then it is apparently to some. At the rate we are going we are going to spend a lot of money on prisons. Oh that's right, we already are! That's how you make it safer to work in a prison, pull all the guards out and let the prisoner's do their thing. In a few years I bet you don't have many 3 time losers, or 29 time losers like we have now! If we do, so be it.

Tipsy

Does anyone know if the tips percentage went up when the sales tax went up? That's a tough one to keep up with anyway. Is it 10 , 15 , or 20 %? Do you tip the same for a cab as you do for a steak? Are you supposed to tip cabbies? I hate tipping! I'm never sure if you should tip the guy running the elevator or not. I was at the motel 6 the other day and the Bellhop just stared at me!

OK, we don't have the same things to tip as they did in the old days. I hear stories of the service people used to get and I understand why you would want to tip. It's a different story today. Why should I tip for an overrated meal from an incompetent waitress? Even better, why should I pay the restaurant's payroll for them? It burns me up when they automatically add the tip! There's no incentive for good service, they are getting it regardless of how they do.

There was a show where the guy put a stack of dollar bills on the table. He told the waitress that was her tip. Every time he had to ask for a drink refill, he took a dollar away and so on. Not a bad idea. Aren't tips supposed to be an extra incentive for supplying excellent service? I thought the incentive was to have a job? What, if you didn't tip the elevator operator in the 1020's, did he drop you off on the wrong floor?

I must be odd man out. I don't see why I need to tip the guy that brings me a pizza, especially when they have added a delivery charge. Come on, what's up with that? Pizza delivery guys haven't deserved tips since they got rid of the 20 minutes or free policies! Do you remember watching these guys with pizza signs on top of their cars driving like a hundred miles an hour to get it to you in 19 minutes! Ahhhh, good times.

Why don't we tip doctors, or better yet teachers? If you get an "A", the teacher knows there are probably a couple of fins coming their way. Who made up the list of who to tip and who gets stuck with their salary for their pay? I don't remember filling out that questionnaire? Other countries don't tip and they probably don't spit in your food. I'm sure people who enter the service industry do it to assist their fellow man. Why don't we get rid of tips and all go to Friendly's to see what kind of service we get?
