Multiple Sclerosis, Ankle Pain is Arthritis, and Fix My Pool, Please

I'm suddenly having a lot of pain, and swelling in my right ankle, the leg that the Bioness 300 is on. Went last night, my ankle is encrusted with arthritis, the result of having broken the ankle, and spraining numerous times in my youth. I have no idea if it caused by the stimulator, but it makes me wonder. The doc told me last night, it is like I have a spur that is suddenly jabbing into the soft tissue, causing swelling, so much for the break I was hoping to catch! I guess the next stop is to an orthopedic specialist.

I go on Monday to meet with the people from Dankmeyer, and from Bioness. Time is running out on the trial period for the stim, I need to figure out what I'm going to do. By the way, the trial period isn't free, it's $500 a month. If you think about it, my right ankle has been purposely immobilized for the last 3 years, and not very useful for the last 10, so I guess I should have expected some mines on the road to regaining some mobility.

The pool is a total disaster this year! The small leak in the liner I hoped to be able to fix, or have fixed, apparently didn't exist? The day before we planned on taking the cover off, the water suddenly disappeared! Yes, I said disappeared. We are talking about, approximately 10,000 gallons of water, and it's gone, and there is no sign of it! It wasn't a hole in the liner, the liner fell off, yes off. We have, I should say had, a liner with a bead along the top that fit in a channel. I haven't liked it from day one, and now I know why. We are having a new kiner put in this week, I will take pictures tomorrow of what I'm talking about, maybe my ankles too.

this really sucks, andy! warm swimming weather is very short where you are, it sucks that the pool can't be ready to go NOW for you!!

Libby,

The only saving grace is I think its rained everyday, besides today, since we opened the pool.

Hi Andy:

I hope you find a solution to the Bioness as you seem to like it and many days you have been reporting some good results so far.

As far as the pool is concerned, I'm sorry to hear about that. MSers need to be able to dip in and out as much as possible in the heat, so I hope you get it up and running soon.

Keep us posted about Bioness. I've been following your progress notes on your blog.

Anne,

I have been very happy with Bioness, especially their customer service. The problem I am having, I think, is with my ankle? Years of sports injuries have left me a tough fix for any normal solutions. Though the stimulator has aggravated an existing condition, I don't think it has caused it. I will let you know what they say, I have an appointment Monday.

I am still having a hard time adding your blog to my list, and suggestions?

Andy - unfortunate about the arthritis in your ankle. Do you think the arthritis will affect the Bioness' effectiveness? Hard to try and make a decision on the stim with this muddying the waters.

The only suggestion is an inconvenience to you....and that is

to make it one of your daily stops each day by typing in:

or bookmark it while you are there.
LOL. Sorry, don't know what else to tell you.

Regarding your ankle, try wrapping it in an Ace bandage for a few hours a day (high intensity parts of your day) and see if that doesn't help. Ice - 20 mins on - 20 mins off. 1000 mg Tylenol every 4 to 6 hrs.

Sorry about your ankle, more problems. My dad wants to turn his pool into a garden, since the liner keeps tearing. It is a mystery though, where is the water?
I have the same problem with Anne's blog, I have even removed cookies, copied, pasted, subscribed to posts. I will keep trying, I like her blog.

I got A in my one knee...I wonder, why? Why THAT knee and not the other? Guess we may never know. When it rains it craps...or something like that.

Hi,
Before you put the ace bandage on the ankle put some capsium(sp) cream on liberaly then cover it with little serean (sp) wrap then ace over that. The capsium you can find at most drug stores; capsium is the only scientificly tested herb that is known to reverse arthritis and old injuries. Used it myself on a very bum knee and arthritis of low back and neck with great results. Also apply the ice that will speed up results. They told me the knee would always bother me they were worng it never does now and neither does the neck or back. If you want to make the cream stronger let me know and I can give you instructions. www.paul@theherbprof.com

Good Luck
