I built my salad table today, you may ask what a salad table is? It is a table you grow salad on, of course. We had a blast last year going out into the yard and picking all the fixins for our salads. This year we will have more salad then we can probably eat, but it won't be because we don't have it close by. The peppers will be growing in the tubs, we joined a CSA at a friends house, so fresh food, here we come!
My back is killing me! Is this a joke or something? It's not enough that I drag my leg like I'm heading to Notre Dame to ring the bells, can't manipulate things with my hands if I can't see it, AND my back is going to hurt? You have got to be kidding me! I don't expect smooth sailing on any of this, but how about one thing at a time?
The parents are here, the father went to play poker with the old fogey's club, the mother is sitting here reading a book, telling me stories while she reads. The girl came home from school today, sick, spreading germs all over the place. She actually called and asked if she could come home. I told her no, but her mother caved! I think the boy moved out? I think he would, if he wasn't 17, and if the bowling alley would put a bed in for him, we would never see him again. Minus the searing pain, the dead feeling in the limbs, it's nice to have a house full of people, so I'll take it.

By the time I get back from the cruise, I expect to hear that all or most of you are sick with what the daughter brought home from school.
A bowling alley! How novel....now I just have to show my kid where it is and what they do there. He doesn't need a bed - he can sleep anywhere.
Take care of that back!!! You will never ever learn to delegate or to take it slow-----er.
That salad table is a great idea. It made me think of my gardening experience as a kid. My dad had a HUGE garden which we kids had to help in. The fruits of the labors were wonderful, though. Nothing like a sun-ripened strawberry eaten 2 seconds after picking. Or fresh corn every night for 2 months (we would run out to pick it minutes before it went into the cooking water). Made so many bread and butter pickles and strawberry jam and such in my teens I never thought I'd want to eat them again. Enjoy those fresh greens!
No Anne, my back hurt before I started, honest! If I went any slower, it would be yesterday.
Sounds delightful Cranky, we only had tomatoes as a kid, my father didn't like the color green! Mine is on a very small scale, but we are enjoying it.
andy, "ring dem bells" lololol! sorry, that just reminded me of how we used to say that to one of the guys that used to go out drinking w/all of us! the more he drank, the more he walked like that...and he was only in his 20s!!
I say that to my mother all the time, just like Charles Laughton, "Mom, I got the job!" Of course in the old days I had to exaggerate the walk.
I absolutely love the salad table. I love fun ideas like that... We have a huge garden but the deer and raccoons and other critters always get to it. O basically we plant a garden for the animals and then I try to find places to plant my own garden and herbs...
We have limited space in the back, the shed, the pool, so we went with my idiot garden design. I don't grow anything on the ground where the critters can get to it, like llamas or chipmunks. It's scads of fun. Check out idiot proof in labels for pictures.
Pity people can't appreciate how handsome you are since you hot that hair cut and shave. So you walk funny, you look great!The garden is great, even for father's who only eat the red stuff.
A salad table...what a fabulous idea! If I had a yard (apartment living) to do that I totally would! Very creative!

My idiot garden would work great on an apartment patio! You could also build a smaller table and be set.
