$10 a barrel

Wow! What a day! Oil is up, the Dow is down, and unemployment is up. Looks like a good time to be retired. Oil went up $10 a barrel today, $10! The good news is I saw today a representative from Shell Oil said we would shoulder this burden together. It's good we are doing this together, I'd be scared if we were alone! Ya think the experts have insider info on this gas thing? They said gas would be $5 a gallon by the 4th of July. Looks they like they are just going to be early.

What's our President doing about this? I mean his daughter is married now, so he can't say he's been busy with that. I saw his ultra green house in Crawford on the news the other day. He bought that in 1999, had all the latest technology built into it. He is capable of living off the grid, not having to depend on outside energy. It's like he knew the bottom was getting ready to fall out. He must have known he was going to win! When the subject of gas comes up, he says we need to drill in Alaska. End of story.

Is anyone in a position of power aware of the windfall profits the oil companies are making in these "tough" times? Do any of them care? I tell ya, I'm starting to feel like Rodney Dangerfield, no respect! This is a problem that exists on both sides of the aisle, so I don't to hear anyone try to blame it on either side. They don't care. Plain and simple. Meanwhile the oil companies have our onions in a vise.

What are we going to do? I already quit smoking because I couldn't afford it. Do I sell my car and quit that too? I was reading about electric cars, you know the ones I mean, just like Tom Hanks and Jay Leno bought. That right there tells me I can't afford it. They sell conversion kits to make your car the envy of Ed Begley Jr. The problem is they are like $13 G's. Not happening at my ranch. I am stuck. There aren't enough buttons in the world to fix this problem.

Food prices are up, everything is up except the Dow! I can't smoke, can't drink, can't afford to buy groceries or ride in my car. It doesn't matter what your views are on the war. It doesn't even matter who you voted for. I'm starting to think it doesn't matter who you vote for anyway. One way or another the little guy is going to get it in the end. Nobody s going to stand up for me and I know it. I don't expect them to anymore really. It's just $10 a barrel. Wow! That's incredible! Gas went up more today then ever in a single day. The interesting thing is in 1999 gas was under $10 a barrel! WOW!

I agree these gas prices are a real problem. It has almost gotten to the point that by the time my daughters pay for gas to drive to and from work a good portion of their paycheck is gone. It is not unusual for gas to cost us more that $150 a week.

I've received e-mails suggesting not to buy gas on a certain day or only buy gas as you need it to slow sales. I don't think those are feasible ideas but the below e-mail message has potential.
Here it is:

"I like the theory behind this and I still need to buy gas, but I don’t need to buy it from the highest vendor, so I’ll try this!

Boycott $4.00 Dollars a Gallon (Pass it on)

THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON.

This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take time to read this please.

Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy gas on a certain day’ campaign that was going around last April or May! It's worth your consideration. Join the resistance!!!!

I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by this summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down?

We need to take some intelligent, united action.
The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to 'hurt' ourselves by refusing to buy gas.

It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them BUT, whoever thought of this idea has come up with a plan that can really work.

Please read on and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $2.00 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $3.89 for regular unleaded in my city, Seattle.

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $2.50 - $2.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace. Not sellers.

With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.

The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.

But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL.

If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit

To have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers. If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!

If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all!

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!

I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you? Acting together we can make a difference.

If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL until they lower their prices to the $2.00 range and keep them down. This can work if you believe in the theory of supply and demand.

Let’s try something different."

It would take a monumental effort but even if it doesn't work it would be nice to stick it to some of these companies. It is worth a shot. Exxon/Mobil posted a $40,000,000,000 profit in the first quarter this year. It can't hurt. I we're going to get hurt we might as well get a few licks in on our own.

Hey Slammer, the only way I can see to stick it to the man is to buy less. If we continue to use at the rate we are, they will continue to post huge profits. Even if you don't buy from Exxon, BP only has so much to sell. Where do they get the extra? They buy it from Exxon. I thought there were laws against profiteering during war times?

A few minutes after my last post I received an interesting e-mail about a New Air car from MDI ready for production in 2008. Here is their web page:
http://www.mdi.lu/eng/affiche_eng.php?page=accueil

This is the same company who, a few months back, came out with a car that
costs only $2,500.00 new (but it's not available in the US, why does that not
surprise me?).
A non polluting vehicle that eliminates the reason to buy gasoline from off shore companies. How bad is that?

AMAZING AIR CAR!

The Compressed Air Car developed by Motor Development International (MDI) Founder Guy Negre might be the best thing to have happened to the motor engine in years.

The $12,700 CityCAT, one of the planned Air Car models, can hit 68 mph and has a range of 125 miles. It will take only a few minutes for the CityCAT to refuel at gas stations equipped with custom air compressor units. MDI says it should cost only around $2 to fill the car up with 340 liters of air!

The Air Car will be starting production relatively soon, thanks t o India's TATA Motors. Forget corn! There's fuel, there's renewable fuel, and then there's user-renewable fuel! What can be better than air?

Check it out yourself and see - What A Cool Car! Enjoy! :)

This six-seater taxi should be available in India this year -2008!

Now If We Can Just Get It In The USA!

Wow!
That would be great......as long as compressed air is available for the heavy demand those cars would create if widely used;
I'd hate to pump one up with an old fashioned bicycle pump......ha ha
Plus the price of a compressed air refill would likely go up as the compressors take lots of Electrical energy to run. and many places like California have High Electric Rates,,,
It could reduce pollution from gasoline burning cars, but the plants generating the energy to run the compressors might offset that gain unless they were operated with Green technology.
Interesting. huh?

Where can I buy one???
