Remember when organic fruits and veggies hit the scene, grapes were $5, a piece! The cost of everything was through the roof. Organics were only offered at specialty stores, and they were hard to find. Things have changed, got a 3 lb. bag of store brand organic apples at Safeway for 5 bucks! Some pretty cool enterprises have popped up, not only selling organic, but local as well. Friends of ours have done just that, started their own CSA, Rousedale Farm, check it out!
Acupuncture. Any thoughts? The National MS Society says it may work, but there haven't been any studies,so they don't know? My Neuro does it, but doesn't seem confident it would do anything for the MS. No disrespect intended, but I need an old Chinese dude! The Chinese have been doing it for thousands of years, either they are easily fooled, or the stuff works. One of my cousins is sending me info, I have about 3,000, comes in handy! Let me know what you think.
Having a pork roast tonight, cooking it in the pressure cooker. I love the pressure cooker, reminds me of my grandmother, in fact, I have her old one, don't use it anymore, but I do have it. Honestly, I don't remember what she made in it, I just remember being mesmerized at that rocking, hissing pot she would smack with a big knife to make seal. I always thought how cool it would be if it blew up! Not for anyone to get hurt, but how cool a story would that be? Dude, what happened to your house? Oh, dinner blew up!

I have MS and I started acupuncture in November. I have to say I'm hooked! It has really helped the pain and the muscle spasms in my legs are gone. I would certainly recommend trying it.
Sherri - Thanks, and I'm glad to hear it's working for you. If I could cross my fingers I would, in hopes it would work for all of us.

Hi Andy,
Forgot to say Richie recently bought a juicer so we now have instant fresh delicious apple juice.
Love,
Herrad
Herrad - We too have a juicer, I love it. throw some grape and a couple of carrots in with the apples, yum.

Andy,
Scarecrow has his mom's old pressure cooker, and probably uses it two or three times a week. It's amazing! Pork and hominy chili... black beans and rice... mmm... And quick enough to make after work without having to plan ahead, which we never manage to do.
I never used it when I was doing the cooking. It was partly because I didn't mind devoting a weekend afternoon to something that took a long time to cook. And, I admit, I was always a little afraid that it would blow up :)
Zoom - I agree, it is fast, sometimes I feel bad getting it dirty! The wife won't even go into the kitchen when it's on.

I've never done a pork roast in a pressure cooker. We always do ours in a slow cooker with sauerkraut. My Mom always made stew in the pressure cooker.
When I worked at Gino's many years ago we cooked the KFC in a pressure cooker. It was really fast and good.
But thinking back it is a wonder no one got killed or seriously hurt anyway.
We had 15 & 16 year old kids cooking with oil over 400 degrees on a greasy wet floor. We didn't always wait for all the pressure to be released from the pot at the end and sometimes and you would really have to control the lid as the pressure blew it off if you unlocked it too soon. You had to take the pot off the stove and dump it on a tray as the oil went through the filter system. I worked on the route taken to get to Pimlico Race Track and on Preakness day we would cook between 150 & 200 pots of chicken on the day shift. That is about 400 pounds of chicken. These pressure cookers could really cook.
Slammer - I'll take a thrift box, a Gino's giant, and a small tab.
Boy not many people remember the Thrift Box. It was $2.85 for 9 ieces of chicken. We went to KFC about a month ago and it was close to $20 for I think a 10 piece order I don't know if it was a bucket or not.
Slammer - You had a hard time figuring out if it was a bucket? Could it have been a pail? My God man, get your head back into this!
