Good Bye Miss Dixie, Thanks For Loving Me Like A Son

It's been a tough year for the mother in law, but that all came to an end this week for her, she passed on Tuesday, her pain is over and she is in a better place with the ones that went before her that she loved.  It was a painless passing, as if she just went to sleep.  I was there with the father in law, her one true love for 62 years, he is struggling but knows there was nothing here for her any longer, so he let her go until the meet again.

I was damn lucky to have her for a mother in law, in 30 plus years she was only noticeably mad at me one time, and if you know me you understand how amazing that is!  Back about 20 years ago I found a a secluded piece of property that I fell in love with, took them up to see it.  I noticed she wasn't staying with us, she was off to herself, back turned to me, arms crossed, and I could hear her talking.  When I got close I could hear her, can't believe he is considering bringing my baby up here in the middle of nowhere, no neighbors, think she even threw in the possibility of us being eaten by wolves!  It was a priceless moment, one we relived many times.  It was an honor to be her son in law, and Miss Dixie I will miss you very much until we meet again!

Funeral Parlor Observation, And Buddy Has Scabies. Or So He Says

Had to do the funeral home thing tonight, a neighbor lost his 90 something year old mother. Been to a ton of these things now, you can just about plan on what you're going to see when you get there. When the child is 70+ years old there is very seldom any tears, it's a very light hearted atmosphere. It usually is a celebration of life, not a how horrible it is for them to be gone. Tonight was an easy one, wish they all were.

I was going to write about a guy a know with scabies, but I think he's pulling my leg, after all all, who gets stuff like that? I didn't even know it was a real thing, thought it was like cooties, all in the persons head, or childhood lore. If I get something like that I think I want it to be topical, or at least sub tropical, like pango pango. OK Pago Pago, that's the capital of American Samoa, but you know what I mean, something with an alliterative name. Anyway, I offered to take my buddy to PetSmart to be dipped, but my humor is sometimes lost on the humor impaired!

Too Fat For Ecopods

Was just reading about recycled paper coffins called ecopods, pretty cool concept. I want something like that when the time comes, no embalming, just put me in the ground at church. No viewings, don't want people talking about how good I look, stick a walnut up my ass and plant me. Well it's all planned, nothing to it, until I noticed I'm too big for the pods! If that isn't the ultimate slap, I'm too fat to die!
