Catheter Time
Sometimes the things you dread most are the things you know you are on a crash course with. Bladder issues are a part of my life, I hate it, just the way it is. I had another urodynamatic test last Friday, things went as expected, horribly. The average person holds about 125 ccs of urine before the urge to go sends them to the bathroom. At 400 ccs I still had no such urge. It was around 500 ccs that the urge finally hit, but I was only able to pass a small amount, leaving the bladder mostly full, hence the issue. This is what sent me constantly to the bathroom. Because I am unable to empty, the bladder is constantly under pressure. That pressure caused a tear in the bladder wall and though it healed, it healed with adhesions, causing their own problems. The long and the short of it is I began self catheterization on Friday. A major problem with this is that I have limited use of my right hand, making the insertion of the catheter somewhat challenging. More to come, but I’m in a wheelchair now, maybe an indwelling catheter is a better way to go?
